What is this civic integration programme about?

The civic integration programme helps you in finding your way in our society.

How can the civic integration programme help you?

  • Are you looking for work?
You reflect on what you want and what you can do. You learn which services may be of assistance. You talk about what an employer in Belgium expects from you. You register with VDAB.
  • Do you want to get to know people?
You find out how to become a member of an association. You learn where you can do sports and meet Belgians. You meet other persons integrating (inburgeraars).
  • Do you have children?
You learn about childcare and schools in Belgium.
  • Do you want to improve your Dutch?
You can enrol in a Dutch language course. You can take part in activities to practice your Dutch.
  • Do you find working online difficult?
Part of the lessons and services in Atlas are online. Atlas will help you to learn and practise.
  • And so much more…

The civic integration programme (inburgeringstraject) includes:

Are you obliged to follow the civic integration programme?

Then you also have to achieve language level B1 orally (B1 mondeling), up to a maximum of 2 years after the date of  your civic integration certificate.

Did you successfully finish the civic integration programme?

Then you receive a civic integration certificate (inburgeringsattest). An integration certificate is an important piece of evidence for a future Belgian citizenship.

How can you combine social orientation classes with a Dutch language course?

An Atlas staff member discusses it with you.

You can follow the civic integration programme in the daytime, in the evening or even on the weekend.

Do you already speak Dutch? Or do you already know a lot about life in Belgium?

A staff member will discuss with you what you need to do.
